Our calling

Serving at the Lord's Table

The Altar Servers at St. Chavara Mission have the special privilege of assisting the priest during the celebration of the Holy Qurbana and other liturgical services. With reverence and dedication, they help create a prayerful and orderly worship environment.

Who may serve

A Call to Serve

This ministry is open to boys and girls who have received their First Holy Communion and demonstrate a respectful attitude, reliability, and a desire to serve. Serving at the altar helps young members grow in faith, discipline, and responsibility.

What We Do

At the altar

Altar servers assist in various ways, including:

  • Carrying the processional cross and candles
  • Assisting with the preparation of the gifts
  • Holding the missal and liturgical items
  • Supporting the flow and structure of the Mass

Training and Commitment

New altar servers receive training to learn the parts of the Mass, proper procedures, and the meaning behind their roles. We encourage consistent attendance, preparation, and a prayerful attitude. Refresher sessions are held periodically to support ongoing learning.

A Foundation for Faith

Serving at the altar deepens one's connection to the liturgy and strengthens a lifelong relationship with Christ and His Church. Many young people discover a deeper sense of vocation through this ministry.
